For most colleges, a homeschool transcript is accepted when it looks organized, complete, and official. It does not usually need to come from an accredited school, but it does need to clearly show what the student completed and how grades/credits were awarded.

A college-ready homeschool transcript usually needs:

Student and homeschool information
Include the studentโ€™s full name, date of birth, homeschool name, address, phone/email, and parent/administrator name.

Courses listed by year or subject
Colleges need to see the high school courses completed, usually grades 9โ€“12, with clear course titles.

Credits earned
Each course should show the credit value, such as 1.0 credit for a full-year course or 0.5 credit for a semester course.

Final grades and GPA
Include the final letter grade, grade points, yearly GPA if you use it, and cumulative GPA. A grading scale is also important so colleges know how your GPA was calculated.

Graduation date
Include either the expected graduation date or the final graduation date.

Signature and date
The transcript should be signed and dated by the homeschool administrator, which is usually the parent. Some colleges specifically say the homeschool transcript must be signed by the parent/teacher of record.

Official outside transcripts when needed
If the student took classes through a public school, private school, online school, community college, Running Start, or dual enrollment program, colleges may require official transcripts from those schools too. UW, for example, says final college transcripts are required for applicants who attended college, and official transcripts are required for coursework completed at high schools or accredited colleges.
